Evaluation, Mapping, and Stakeholder Analysis
Challenge
The Development Platform for Performing Arts plays a central role in the independent performing arts sector, but faced the need for a comprehensive and well-documented evaluation of its activities and impact.
There was a need to understand the value of the platform’s work across production, entrepreneurship, internationalisation, and networking - as well as to identify concrete development opportunities in a complex and fragmented sector with many stakeholders and high expectations.
Solution
BARC carried out, in collaboration with Urgent.Agency, a comprehensive analysis and evaluation programme combining qualitative and quantitative methods.
The work included:
Analysis of existing data, including surveys with several hundred respondents
Conducting interviews and focus groups with artists, partners, and key stakeholders
Case analyses of specific projects with a focus on entrepreneurship and internationalisation
Mapping stakeholders and networks across the sector
Audience analysis and segmentation
International benchmarking of similar organisations
The insights were compiled into a strategic evaluation report with concrete recommendations for future development.
The programme provided a comprehensive overview of the platform’s impact and position within the sector, documented the value created for users, and established a stronger foundation for future priorities, partnerships, and strategic initiatives.
